Top Down Reservoir Modelling to Reveal Well and Reservoir Connectivity

Well Priority Optimisation to Significantly Increase Remaining Oil UR
Besides using the latest processing and interpretation techniques to map the field structure, history match performance and identify infill development opportunities, the biggest low hanging fruit can be prioritising high oil cut wells into the flowline manifold. In this case study, looking at the fluid levels and pump depths produced a hit list of key wells that could produce more oil if prioritised. This increased oil rate by 25% from baseline and remaining oil UR by 60%.

Traditional amplitude extraction usually do not correlate with wells to distinguish good reservoir from bad.

Enhanced Oil Recovery Pilot to Full Field Implementation
We have designed Cyclic Steam Stimulation pilots to appraise and mature heavy oil resources. Dynamic appraisal was incorporated into each location to understand permeability, boundaries and connectivity. The first pilot resulted in peak oil production of 70 sm3/d. The piloting strategy provided enough confidence to drill additional wells, resulting in significant incremental oil reserves.

Hydraulic Fracture Design and Modelling to Optimise Reservoir Contact
We have designed and modelled hydraulic fractures to improve reservoir contact for operators offshore Vietnam, onshore Middle East and onshore China.
#1 in optimising fracture design is balancing the tradeoff between fracture propagation and aperture. Through 1D and 2D geomechanical models, we test various pump and proppant combinations through reservoir simulation to determine the most economic configuration to enhance production.
​Typecurve modelling allows us to estimate the drainage area of wells and estimate remaining UR.
